Medical evacuation assumes someone knows where you are and can reach you. Search and rescue covers the step before: finding you on a Kilimanjaro route in bad weather, or extracting an injured trekker from a forest slope in Bwindi where no aircraft can land.
Most travel policies don't include field rescue at all — it's the specialty of membership services like Global Rescue and of high-tier adventure policies. If your itinerary includes multi-day trekking away from vehicles, check for this benefit by name rather than assuming evacuation cover reaches you on the trail.
