Adventure Sports Rider

A paid policy upgrade that buys back cover for activities the base policy excludes — trekking at altitude, diving, riding, and similar. The safari-relevant fix for a hazardous activity exclusion.

When an activity you've booked sits on the excluded list, you usually have two options: switch insurers, or add an adventure sports rider. The rider re-includes a defined set of activities, sometimes in tiers — level one might add riding and ballooning, level two high-altitude trekking and diving beyond 30 meters.

Two checks before paying for one: confirm the specific activity is named in the tier you're buying, and confirm the rider extends to the medical evacuation benefit, not just medical expenses — an activity injury in a remote area is precisely when evacuation cover matters most.
