Rwanda and Uganda gorilla permits cost $1,500 and $800 per person respectively, and neither is refundable if you cannot use it — even for a medical emergency the day before your trek. Trip cancellation cover typically reimburses the trip cost, but permit protection specifically is a separate, narrower benefit worth checking for by name.
