Dive Rider
A policy add-on extending medical cover to scuba diving, usually to a stated depth — 18m, 30m, or 40m. Without one, many policies exclude diving injuries entirely or cap cover at shallow certification depths.
Base policies commonly cover diving only to 18 meters with an instructor, or exclude it outright. A dive rider raises the ceiling — typically to 30 or 40 meters for certified divers — and brings decompression treatment into scope, which matters because the nearest recompression chamber to Zanzibar is a boat-and-plane journey away.
Safari-relevant detail: observe the no-fly interval (roughly 18–24 hours after repetitive dives) before boarding any light aircraft. An insurer can decline a decompression claim caused by flying too soon after diving — and bush-flight itineraries make that mistake easy to commit.
